Honor smartphones get Google Mobile Services again

There is light at the end of the tunnel with Honor again. After falling under the Huawei flag for a long time, it was no longer able to provide Google services since May 2019. Now that the manufacturer has loosened up, suddenly a lot more is possible.

Google Mobile Services at Honor

It was already in the air, after the news came out in May that Honor may be back with Google Play Services, now it has been confirmed. Honor’s spokesperson has now confirmed that the company’s future smartphones and tablets will once again be delivered with Google services. Honor is currently undergoing Play Protect’s security assessment and compatibility testing to make GMS apps suitable for Honor devices.

In the statement, the spokesperson says that suitable Honor devices will also (again) gain access to Google’s services. However, it is not known which devices are involved. The same goes for previously released devices; or which are also updated with support for Google services.

The fact that Honor is again providing Google services is possible because Honor is no longer part of Huawei. The American sanctions against Huawei made it impossible for the manufacturer to cooperate with American parties, such as Google. Although evidence of espionage has still never been found, Huawei is still being held accountable for this.
