Honor plans to announce new smartphone for January 18

Honor is working on a comeback after it was taken over from Huawei by a consortium of Chinese companies a few weeks ago. We can expect an announcement on January 18, what is about to happen?

Honor announces

The Chinese Huawei is no longer the owner of Honor. Because of the American sanctions, it seemed more logical for the manufacturer to sell the subsidiary, Honor. Some time ago a buyer was found for the manufacturer in the form of Chinese investors. Honor soon announced that when the acquisition would be completed, it would soon come up with new products.

It now seems that Honor has taken the first step in this vision. In China, the company will present a new smartphone on January 18. It would be the new 5G high-end smartphone from the company with the name Honor V40. This smartphone was already ‘on the shelf’ and originally the plan was to announce it in 2020. However, this was postponed due to the hassle with trade restrictions.

The Honor V30

Some specifications of the smartphone have already surfaced. Honor would like to equip the Honor V40 with a 6.72-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, there is talk of a penta camera with at least a 50MP lens, a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor with 5G and a powerful battery. This battery should be charged wired with 66 watts, or wirelessly with a power of 50 watts.

It is unclear whether Honor’s return also means anything to us in the Netherlands. Presumably, the introduction of the V40 will only focus on the Chinese market for the time being. In our country, the smartphones have also been released from Honor, where the model name changed to View. The last released View was the View 20. If the Honor View 40 will be introduced in our country, we will in all probability also see it with Google services.
