Unlock flies and buy brooms
You will learn to fly automatically as part of the Hogwarts Legacy main missions. Once you reach level 6, you can start the 19th story mission Lesson: Flying. Here the controls in flight are explained to you. However, you will not have your own broom after the mission.
So check the order menu again. Here is the Side Mission “Flight Test” appear. If the mission is not displayed, maybe something is waiting or doing another mission in between, then it should appear promptly.
Activate them and go to them Albie Weekes in Hogsmeade’s Spintwitches store. The objective marker of the quest shows you the exact location. After a short conversation you can access his range of brooms. At the beginning he has five brooms for 600 gold pieces on offer.
Use brooms, upgrade and flight rules
If you have decided on a broom, you can now call it up and use it to fly. You don’t have to equip the broom separately. In gameplay, you can summon the broom by holding the L1/LB button and then pressing the Circle/B button.
However, note the following flight rules when using the broom:
- You can’t start everywhere with your broom. For example, you can’t call him inside Hogsmeade or Hogwarts. However, it is possible to land on and take off from some of Hogwarts’ grounds, such as castle walls.
- In addition, you cannot fly into certain areas with the broom. These include Hogsmeade, cave areas, mountain peaks or dungeons. One invisible barrier deny you the onward flight here.
- In the equipment menu you can select your currently equipped broom in the bottom right and change if you have several.
- You can get more via side missions Unlock upgrades for brooms and buy them at Spintwitches. You can also find and improve a total of 13 different brooms throughout the game. You can see the exact locations below.
- While flying, press the right directional button to basic flight controls to see
- Hold down the L2/LT button to acceleration boost indicated by a yellow bar that slowly drains and recharges. If you fly close to the ground, you can boost infinitely. The boost bar only empties when you fly up.
- In the game settings you can Invert flight controlsif you have problems with the basic setting.
