HMD Global will sell 2 million Nokia smartphones in Q1 2021

In the first quarter of 2021, HMD Global sold more smartphones than last quarter. However, it is not all positive news.

Counterpoint Research has researched the number of Nokia smartphones sold by HMD Global. HMD Global is the company that releases Nokia devices. The company sold a total of 2.0 million mobile phones in the first quarter of 2021. That’s more than the 1.7 million units it sold in Q1 last year.

However, it is not all good news. 2.8 million smartphones were sold in the previous quarter. According to the research agency, fewer devices were sold, especially in India. There the market share fell. The manufacturer is doing good business in Africa and parts of Europe. In the first quarter, in addition to the two million smartphones, an additional 11 million feature phones were sold. Nokia ranks eleventh among the most popular brands worldwide, according to the research firm. Apple, Samsung and Oppo are higher.

It is not known which devices have been sold how many times. Nokia recently released the Nokia X20; a device with three years of (Android) updates and a three-year warranty. More G- and X-series devices will be released in the coming weeks.
