Here’s how to recognize music on your iPhone
The iPhone has a somewhat hidden feature that lets you discover music with a tap. You can also create a history of the identified songs to later add them to your playlist. A special app is not required for this.
A hidden feature on iPhone lets you identify almost any song imaginable with a tap of your finger. There is then an option to save identified songs in a history to add them to a playlist later if needed.
The feature is based on the music recognition service Shazam, which Apple acquired in 2018. You don’t even need an app to recognize music on the radio or in a bar. Because a swipe and a tap of the finger are enough to recognize songs with the iPhone.
Recognizing music with the iPhone: Here’s how!
The feature to recognize music with the iPhone has been around for a few years. Because with the acquisition of Shazam, Apple has integrated it on the iPhone and iPad. However, the feature is hardly known and somewhat hidden. To set up the music recognition feature, first go to your iPhone’s settings.
Then tap on “Control Center”. Then scroll down to “More Controls” and click the green plus next to the “Music Recognition” button. You have now added the function to your control center.
To access it, swipe down from the top right of your screen. On an iPhone with a home button, you’ll need to swipe up the bottom edge of the screen.
So your iPhone recognizes almost every song
To recognize music with your iPhone, all you have to do then is click on the Shazam icon in the control center. Your smartphone will then listen for a few seconds and then show you the title and artist on your screen.
If you want to open the history of identified songs, press and hold the music recognition button in the control center. You don’t need to have the Shazam app installed to use the feature.
