Google wants to roll out new emoji disconnect from Android update

Emojis are a big part of our way of communicating (via the smartphone). Until now, we keep having to wait for an Android update to use new emoji, but that may change, courtesy of Google.

New emoji no longer with Android update?

New emoticons are always released by the Unicode Consortium and then offered to the many different parties. These are parties such as WhatsApp, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Google and various others. New emojis are usually added to Android through a software update, usually with the arrival of a new Android version. Now it looks like Google is working on a change for this.

In the code of the Android developer environment, the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), indications have been found for a change in this. Google would like to detach the part of the system partition in which the emoticons can be found from an Android version. This has the advantage that they can be updated in a different way, simply if OTA update such as Google rolls out updates more often, without the user having to realize this. Therefore, you do not have to wait for an Android version update.

It is not yet known when Google will roll out this improvement. Possible with the arrival of Android 12, but whether this will indeed happen is unknown.
