Google stops its own Street View app: this is what will happen
Google has announced that it will stop supporting the Google Street View app. The application will cease to exist from 2023. The Street View app offered a number of extras in terms of street views compared to Google Maps.
End of story for Street View app
The plug is being pulled from the Google Street View app, as is clear from clues found in the source code of the Street View app. It states that the app will be discontinued on March 21, 2023. Users who have the app on their smartphone can now receive a notification that the application has stopped. It concerns both the iPhone and Android app. The official app was released in September 2015 as an extension to the Google Maps app. With, for example, quick access to the (homemade) 360-degree photos.
However, the Photo Paths feature will cease to exist. This is a fairly new feature that allows users to upload their own Street View images from places Google Street View’s car can’t reach. That was a nice alternative, but it is clear that this function will not immediately find a sequel. It is possible that Google may offer an alternative for this in, for example, the Google Maps app.
When users want to share their 360-degree images with Google Street View, they have to use another service. To do this, you can go to the web version of Street View Studio to upload images. In recent times, the functionality for Google Street View has already been further expanded in the Google Maps app.
