Google shares list of first smartwatches to receive Wear OS 3 update
Google has shared an overview about Wear OS 3. The latest version of the operating system for the smartwatch will be available for the first batch of smart watches in a while. Which models will get the update?

Google has announced that it will name the new version of Wear OS Wear OS 3. According to Google, a lot of improvements and new functions are ready for the smartwatches with this operating system. Also according to Google, the update also brings a user experience that can be influenced with Wear OS 3. For that reason, Google will offer the update as an opt-in, where users can choose whether or not they want to download the update for their smartwatch. Before the update is finally rolled out, Google will provide more information about what exactly to expect. What is certain is that after installing Wear OS 3, you will have to reset the watch to factory settings, due to the magnitude of the changes.
Smartwatches that are not eligible for an update, or if you as a user choose to take the new update, Google will offer new app experiences. For example, consider the Play Store improvements announced for Wear OS, as well as improvements for Gboard. In addition, security updates are rolled out for the smartwatches for a minimum period of two years from release.
The first smartwatches will only be offered the new update from the second half of 2022, the company says. Wear OS 3 will be available first for the TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, TicWatch Pro 3, TicWatch E3 and other TicWatch watches. In addition, the update will also be available for the new generation Fossil watches that will be launched later this year. It is not yet known which other devices will receive the update. That will only be communicated at a later time.
