Google Search will soon look very different
Google Search is at the top when it comes to online search, but that dominance is under pressure with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and language bots. Microsoft has already integrated the well-known ChatGPT bot into its search engine and Google faces a dilemma. Rushing to integrate AI into its services or opting for quality output from its language model. Google is looking for a happy medium, it seems. We get a glimpse into the (near) future of Google Search for the first time.
Google Search in the future
Google Search dominated and still dominates online search, but the tide seems to be turning. Google needs to make big strides in AI to make sure Google Search users don’t switch search engines. Among those steps is a refreshed list of search results. That list will be filled with social media posts, short videos, and AI-based conversations. Google wants to make search more personal with this, says The Wall Street Journal.
The right balance
At the moment there is little information about what this will look like. Google seems to want to make significant changes to its search engine to maintain its competitive edge. Since we have been presented with search results via the Google search engine in roughly the same way for decades, this change will have a major impact on users. Google will have to strike the right balance between introducing new features to Google Search that don’t scare off existing users too much. The switch to the Bing search engine is otherwise quickly made.
Google has not announced when it plans to integrate these features into search, but it is already certain that an AI chat function will be added to the Google search engine. For now, the company is still fully testing artificial intelligence-based features and these features will only come to a wider audience later. At Google I/O 2023 on Wednesday, May 10, we hope to see more of Google Search and Bard’s expertise. Meanwhile, developments in the field of AI are happening at lightning speed and Google staff are very concerned about this.
