‘Google Pixel 5a will finally appear in August’
The Pixel 5a will be on the market in August, Bloomberg knows. It concerns Google’s cheaper variant of the Pixel 5. The phone will only appear in the United States and Japan, but a specific date in August has not yet been announced.

The Pixel 5a has been waiting for a while. There has long been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the launch of Google’s midrange phone, a more accessible alternative to the Pixel 5. The phone first leaked in February 2021, and what immediately stood out were the physical similarities with the Pixel 4a, its predecessor. It also comes with the same Snapdragon 765 processor as the Pixel 4a 5G and the Google Pixel 5.
What followed was a lot of uncertainty about the launch date. The phone was first expected to be released in June and that information was reconfirmed in other rumors. The date of June 11 fell, but then doubts arose. According to rumors, Google would have scrapped the project, after which Google formally denied it.
Launch in August
The Pixel device maker confirmed that the Pixel 5a is on the way and that it will be released around the same time as the Pixel A series last year. Only two Pixel A devices appeared last year: The Pixel 4a came in August and a Pixel 4a 5G followed later in October. Bloomberg now confirms that the phone will be released in August.
Only, as Google has already made clear, it will only be on the market in the United States and Japan. It is not clear whether this is a temporary restriction. Presumably, for a cause of this limited launch, we should look to the global chip shortage. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE also suffers from this, although that phone will come to Europe.
