Google Pay is now available for ABN Amro customers
Customers of ABN Amro can now use the payment service Google Pay. With this, it seems that Pay is slowly reaching the Netherlands after it has been available in Belgium (and other countries) for a long time.
Google Pay at ABN Amro
The bank ABN Amro now gives its customers the option to pay with their Android smartphone via Google Pay. Google Pay is Google’s payment service, but it is still not released in our country. In any case, ABN Amro makes the service available to its customers.
With Google Pay, customers can pay directly contactless with their smartphone. It is not necessary to bring a debit card with you for this. Google Pay was previously offered by the banks Bunq, N26 and Revolut. Because the Google Pay app is not yet available in the Netherlands, Google Pay has been integrated into the ABN Amro banking app.
Customers of ABN Amro still need to activate Google Pay in the ABN Amro app. To do this, enter the identification code and then choose ‘Arrange yourself’. You can then select Google Pay here and choose which debit card should be linked. Then you check the data and the service can actually be activated for you. However, your phone must have NFC.
Mobile payment was previously possible at ABN Amro, but this function was removed from the app in 2019. Several other banks have been offering mobile payment in their own app for much longer. ABN Amro does not charge any costs for using Google Pay.
