Google Pay adds support for the Coinbase cryptomen service

Use of the payment system Google Pay has become one of the most widely used payment methods. On the contrary, cryptomenal payment is still a rather marginal method of payment. According to the AndroidPolice portal now Google Pay adds service support Coinbase, which could spread cryptome shopping to ordinary users.

Cryptocurrencies are still not widely used in routine payments

Cryptocurrencies offer several benefits. Most importantly, they implement the principles of cryptography to create a distributed, decentralized and secure digital currency. Payments are also faster compared to bank transfers. The advantage is also the anonymity of transactions, which on the other hand allows illegal trading.

The disadvantage may be high volatility, which means that the price of cryptocurrencies can rise and fall by more than 10% in one day. However, paying with cryptocurrencies for common goods and services is still difficult for many people. In addition, the number of shops and businesses that allow cryptocurrency payment is growing very slowly so far.

You can now add a Coinbase VISA payment card to Google Pay

The Coinbase online cryptomen exchange therefore issued its own payment card two years ago – the Coinbase Card. This is a Visa debit card with which you can pay with cryptocurrencies from your Coinbase account. Payment is the same as with a regular payment card. You can pay contactlessly by entering a PIN code or simply withdraw cash from an ATM. Of course with conversion to euros or other local currency.

What’s new is that in addition to the physical card, Coinbase users will also receive a virtual card on their smartphone that they can use with Google Pay or Apple Pay. They simply add the Coinbase Card to the cards in the application of this service and can pay with it similarly to other Visa cards. Another advantage is that the Coinbase Card can be used immediately by new users in Google Pay without waiting for the physical card to be delivered.

And the great news is that this novelty is also available in Slovakia. Slovakia is among the 14 countries where the use of the Coinbase Card is approved within Google Pay. By the end of the year, support should be extended to other European countries.
