New folding smartphones are expected to arrive in 2021. Google, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi have ordered folding Oled screens from Samsung with the manufacturer’s in-house technology.

Which brands will offer folding smartphones?
According to the Asian site, several smartphone brands have come into contact with Samsung Display. Companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, Google or Vivo have requested quite different models of screens for their future projects. For the American company, a device of the kind seems to be in the boxes for several years. It is thus possible that the next generation of Pixels will include a device with folding technology. However, it’s just as likely that the order for 7.6-inch foldable displays is also intended for a development kit.
When it comes to other brands, it seems that folding smartphones are as diverse as they are varied. For example, Oppo would have requested screens with vertical folding, like a Galaxy Z Fold. It would measure 7.7 inches unfolded and would offer a small screen of about 1.5 inches in order to consult notifications. The Chinese brand presented its stretch smartphone prototype a few days ago, proof that engineers are struggling daily on the subject. Finally, for its part, Xiaomi would have chosen an 8.02 inch inward folding screen.
Of course, it is necessary to take into account that all this information must be taken with great caution. Indeed, at the moment, even if the manufacturers are in preparation of folding smartphones, there is still a long way to go before a possible presentation.
