Google Nest Hub is getting 4 new features, here they are

The Google Nest Hub is getting an update with four major improvements. There will be a family tab for children, new possibilities with alarm clocks and sticky notes. Here you will discover the four novelties that Google is now rolling out. They are available if you use the English US language on your smart display.

1. Family tab

The Google Nest Hub is the central point in your home with which you can operate smart home devices, and that is why it is also used by children. Google previously suggested its family features, but they are now being rolled out to smart displays that work with Google Assistant, Android Police knows that.

In the family tab, children will find fun games, a drawing function and ‘the animal of the day’. Every day children will hear a new animal sound. Google also introduces a function that allows you to see your family members on a map and you can also set a family bell.

2. New for alarm clocks

With the update you will see a new interface with which you can set an alarm. You choose the time, the song that is being played and you set how long snoozing lasts. In addition, you can also determine whether or not Google can immediately activate your morning routine.

Google is also adopting a function that we already know from smart screens such as the Lenovo Smart Clock: the sunrise alarm. Your smart display will light up the screen more and more as the time for your alarm clock approaches. You can set how much time in advance that the screen lights up and you can have a soft sound played before the alarm goes off.

3. Digital post-its

Google also comes with the Family Sticky Notes, or sticky notes that you can leave on the Nest Hub. For example, use such a note to tell your friend to take out the garbage. You can make a note with the command: “Hey Google, leave a family note”.

4. Google’s weather frog

On smart displays you can display albums from Google Photos or you can show art photos from Google on the screen when you are not using it. Google is now introducing a new option and that is a wallpaper that shows it again. You always see an image of Google’s famous frog that always appears with the weather forecast in the app. There are over 50 different images of the ‘weather frog’ depending on the weather, time and season.

It is not yet known when these functions will also roll out for the Dutch Google Assistant. Do you see them appear in Dutch on your smart display. Inform the editors via this route and share your photo.
