Google Messages lets you resize text, that’s how it works

Google Messages is now receiving its third update of the week. After the app previously received support for end-to-end encryption and favorite messages, this time it’s the turn of the text format of conversations in Messages. If the text is just not big enough, then that is now solved with two swipes.

Format text in Messages

For changes to the text format in Google Messages, you could previously go to Android’s system settings. Via the settings of the screen, the text for all apps is adjusted. You may not need to, and you just want to resize the text in Google’s Messages app. After a recent update to the search giant’s texting app, the text size can be easily adjusted, 9to5Google reports.

To resize the text, swipe in or out with two fingers. Swiping out will make the text of the conversations larger. If the text has become a bit too large, swipe in again to find the desired size. If you adjust the text, this is done gradually. In other words, the text gets slightly larger or smaller each time. There is only a minimum and maximum format set by Google – in between you can find the optimal setting.

Text size changes are reflected in all conversations in Messages, but Google won’t let you resize regular text in the app. The format of the menus and icons in Messages also remains the same. As a result, you may still have to tinker with Android’s text settings.

Rollout Google Messages Update

All phones on the Androidworld editors support the new Messages feature. It is unknown whether the function came with a recent update to Google Messages, or whether it has been possible to resize the text in this way for some time.

If you’re still unable to edit the text, visit the Play Store to check for updates to the Messages app. You could also enter the beta channel to enjoy new features before they roll out widely.

With the customization option, Messages is starting to become an increasingly full-featured messaging app. With the arrival of RCS, support for end-to-end encryption, the ability to schedule text messages, and the favorites feature, Messages looks like a serious contender for reaching a wider chat audience. Still, it remains primarily a texting app, which somewhat limits the chances of Messages.
