Google Maps now stays on in the car, if you’ve already got out
Android Auto is provided with the option to also be able to set a lot in Google Maps on your phone if you are already connected. Very useful, but a bug has also crept in. Google Maps now remains open after you have already stepped out of the car after your ride.
Android Auto
Android Auto received its 10.0 update last week, but in addition to an adjustment to the appearance of Google Assistant, there is unfortunately also something that has come with the update that drivers are less likely to expect. If you get in, Android Auto neatly launches Google Maps as it always does. You can then conveniently set your navigation on the infotainment screen and start your ride. Very fine, nothing wrong.
But when you have arrived at your destination, Android Auto seems to be unable to get Google Maps out of its mind. When you get out and turn off your car, Google Maps will continue to run. No longer on the infotainment screen, because it is off, but on your phone. You will then see a notification on your Android phone showing the status of Maps in a notification. You really have to tap ‘stop navigation’ yourself to get rid of it. A little crazy, because you’re already out of your car and he knows it.

Google Maps problem
The problem seems to occur on many Android devices: Pixels and Samsungs, for example. It also makes no difference whether you connect to your car wirelessly or via a cable. It’s not a major disaster, of course: tapping an option on your phone isn’t worth the effort either, but it feels a bit rickety and ‘stupid’ from Android Auto. Or would it be on purpose so that you know how to walk if you couldn’t park your car in front?
