The Chromecast with Google TV 2nd generation seems to be coming. According to sources, a new model is being worked on that will also give you access to Google TV, but there is an important difference with the current model.

Chromecast with Google TV 2nd generation

A new Chromecast with Google TV 2nd generation is on its way, colleagues from 9to5Google report. The clues to this have surfaced in the code of the Google Home app. Where the code name YTV is used for the current Chromecast with Google TV, and YTB for the HD version, YTC has now also surfaced. With the inclusion of the name, Google seems to be preparing the Home app for the arrival of the new model.

More information is not yet known, according to the source. It is expected that the new model will be a bit faster than the current model. The hardware requirements for using Android TV have changed, which could mean that the new Chromecast with Google TV will have a faster processor. A wish of users is also the presence of more storage space, but it is not known whether Google has planned this for the new model. Perhaps we will hear more about this during the next edition of Google I/O, but that is still unclear.

The Chromecast with Google TV HD was recently released in the Netherlands. You can purchase the new media stick for around 40 euros.
