Google is narrowing down the list of supported versions of Android. Goodbye, Jelly Bean!

Google Play Services is a library found on all Android devices supported by Google. A well-known exception is, for example, the manufacturer Huawei, whose devices have not been supported by Google Play Services for some time. Both the Android operating system itself and these services are regularly updated. However, their support is over for some versions of Android. It’s about Android Jelly Bean. The technology web portal XDA-developers came with the information after Google announced it on its blog.

Android 4.1 – 4.3 Jelly Bean will definitely leave us! We were honored

Google Play Services will no longer be supported on devices running Android Jelly Bean 4.1 – 4.3 (API levels 16, 17 and 18). The reason Google decided to quit Android Jelly Bean is the activity of less than one percent of users.

The latest release of Google Services for Android 4.1 – 4.3 will be labeled v21.30.99. The final update is expected at the end of August. The current version is 21.24.18. However, SDK packages will continue to work for developers. However, the recommended API level will rise to a minimum of 19, which is Android 4.4 KitKat.

When we remember a little nostalgically, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was officially introduced in July 2012. It brought unmistakable features like expandable notifications, USB audio and a much smoother environment, compared to its predecessors.

We saw Android 4.2 in November 2012 and showed us improvements on the lock screen and support for multiple user accounts. Android 4.3 finally came with support for Bluetooth LE technology and a redesigned camera application.
