Google Fit has exceeded 100 million downloads

For a while, it seemed that Google had lost interest in its Physical Activity Tracking app called Fit. In 2018, however, it released a major update for the application, which removed several features but revived it with a new design. Since then, Google has been slowly adding back features that it removed at the time, along with other new ones, which helped the application gain new users. This was also reflected in the number of downloads in the Google Play store, where the application reached 100 million downloads. The Android Police portal informed about the news.

Google Fit is far from perfect, but over the years, Google has added some interesting features to it. In addition to the basic functions for monitoring physical activity, steps and heart rate, it also offers, for example, the possibility to measure your heart rate and breathing rate using only the camera on Pixel devices. In addition, in July of this year, it received a minor redesign, thanks to which the collected statistics about your health are much clearer.

The future of Fit looks promising given that Google has acquired Fitbit

With Google’s acquisition of Fitbit, it is likely that it will continue to improve the Fit app. It is also expected to introduce better synchronization between the statistics collected by the Fitbit watch and the application, as their pairing is currently quite cumbersome.
