Going on holiday by car? These are the nicest playgrounds along the highway

Sitting still for hours in the car to your holiday destination: a good seat for parents, but certainly for children. So take regular breaks to stretch your legs. Your child can lose all his energy in these playgrounds along the highway.

Kalken car park – E17 Ghent-Antwerp

Chances are you still have quite a ways to go at this point. Taking a break at a nice parking lot is therefore not an unnecessary luxury. This parking lot between Ghent and Antwerp, with a restaurant, lawn and small playground, is a good place to be.

Stiftung Tierpark Weihermätteli – Basel region

On the way to Switzerland or Italy and time for a longer stop? Then take a break at the popular Weihermätteli leisure park. The children can marvel at all the animals in the petting zoo and enjoy themselves in the playground, while you stretch their legs. This park is easily accessible from the A22.

Raststätte Hüttener Berge near Alt Duvenstedt – A7

You have to be close by, but if you drive to Denmark this summer, this is a nice pit stop. You can find it on the A7 from Hamburg to Flensburg/Denmark. A short drive, but then you also have something: a playground of no less than 100 m2. The associated forest is also full of climbing towers, swings and rope bridges.

Aire de Lorraine Sandaucourt La Trelle / Les Rappes – A31

Both on the way there and back you can stop at this parking lot between Toul and Langres. You recognize it immediately, because there are life-sized wooden soldiers and cannons. There is also a restaurant to fill the bellies again.

Aire de La Chaponne – A6 Paris-Lyon

On the way to France? On the A6 from Paris to Lyon, make a pit stop at this car park. Can your offspring run wild in the playground, while you recharge with a cup of coffee.

Aire de Nabrigas – A9

At the very south of France, near Montpellier, you will find the green parking lot Aire de Nabrigas. Leave the musty air conditioning for what it is and breathe in some fresh air. In addition to a playground, there are also picnic tables and a mist shower (nice!).

Aire de Repos de Jugy, A6 (Southbound)

As soon as you get out of the car, you almost trip over the mushrooms. Fake then, to play on. The playground at this car park on route du soleil is a favorite of many families. You’ll find it on the way out on the A9, just before Lyon. Please note: there is no restaurant or gas station.

Bacva-zapad and Bavca-istok – A9 from Plovanija to Pula

Are you going to travel to Croatia soon? Then make a stop at the child-friendly parking spaces Bacva-zapad and Bavca-istok, on the A9 between Plovanija to Pula. Complete with toilets, restaurant and playground.
