Finally, it was clarified that the development is not overseen by Cory Barlog – the designer and creative director of the original game from 2018, but by his longtime colleague Eric Williams. They both commented on the change of leadership in the spirit of efforts for a new view of the game and refreshment of the overall approach, but Barlog himself indicated that he was already working on a new title and then it became clear that God of War Ragnarök would end the northern part of Krat’s adventure. You ask why? Allegedly so that the studio in Santa Monica would not spend 15 long years developing a perhaps somewhat expected trilogy.

“One of the most important reasons is that the development of the first part took five years,” Barlog explained in an interview with Canadian fan God of War, who appeared on YouTube under the nickname Captain Cuba. The second part, although I don’t know how long it will take, will move around a similar time. Together with the new creative director, both developers explained that with the new Nordic series God of War, they wanted to tell the story of Krat and Atre, who became the central driving force of the whole adventure, and everything is based on their evolving relationship. Barlog likened the individual elements of the story to the ripples on the lake, which are still moving from the center and increasing. “We could easily have made the ocean, and these waves would have spread thousands of miles away. This time, however, he did not even indicate what it might be, which is understandable in view of the upcoming release of God of War. It is highly inappropriate to steal any attention to the completed title, so we will have to wait a while for the new game from the studio in Santa Monica to be revealed.
