Galaxy Watch4 Classic Review: Fulfills several great wishes

As usual, Samsung has sent other smart watches to the market as part of the summer Galaxy offerings. For 2021, there were four different models in the Watch4 series. We saw two different sizes of a sportier variant, based more on the Active series, as well as a pair of differently sized watches with the nickname Classic. You have more conservative design and especially the rotating bezel, which has a lot of fans and satisfied users since previous generations. We have received a larger 46mm version of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic (without LTE) and this review will hopefully help you decide whether to choose this variant…

Packaging and design

As with the previous model, Samsung bet on a completely ordinary long box, in which the watch is hidden in the developed state. In addition, the package contains only the warranty card, basic guide and wireless charger. So it’s the same equipment that last year’s Watch3 had. No surprise. As this is a Classic model, the watch has a rotating bezel, among other things. This slightly more luxurious version also has a stainless steel body.

A common design feature of all the new Galaxy Watch4 are the rectangular buttons, which I quite like. More than the previous round one. When operating the watch, they have the option of performing several tasks. But we will get to them later. They are present microphone and reproducer, so you can call from your wrist, among other things. The sound is clear and clear on both sides.

What is a little strange is the shape and seating of the original strap (20 mm by the way). For a reason unknown to me, the silicone strap at the point of contact with the watch is shaped in such a way that it is no longer possible to bend it towards the hand beyond the inclination of the fixed grips. You can imagine it so (apart from looking at the photo in the gallery) that when turned on a narrow hand the strap from the watch sticks a lot to the hips instead of lying down on the skin. I have a very wide wrist and it still seemed strange and at first uncomfortable. I haven’t figured out why Samsung did it yet.

Of the things that can be judged at first glance, the great display is definitely worth mentioning. He not only has a lot nice resolutionbut it also boasts great brightnesswhich you will appreciate outside even under sharp rays. I have a feeling that, compared to last year’s model, the screen “fell” a little below the level of the bezel, but I don’t mind it at all. With my bear hands, I sometimes don’t hit the notification icon at the edge, but on the other hand, I feel that the display is better protected against damage.

Switching, the Wear OS is coming

If you were to ask smart watch fans what the most interesting new feature of the new Galaxy Watch4 is, the most common answer would probably be another system. The new Samsung watch has drawn a thick line behind the Tizen and in the robe of the One UI Watch 3 superstructure they came with the Wear OS system. This move opened up many other options for them, led by the convenient installation of other applications or linking Google accounts and services.

The cooperation between the American and Korean giants also led to the fact that both in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic can Wear OS watch Finally pay through Google Pay (we have instructions). Don’t worry, Galaxy Watch4 doesn’t have this feature exclusively for themselves, but they were officially the first swallow. A very positive change is also the ability to respond to received messages. And not only with austere predefined messages, but pretty full through the keyboard, voice input or even drawing characters on the screen. Great.

Of course, the deployment of Wear OS also brings with it the presence of the Play Store, which is a really easy way to a lot of other applications from sports trackers, through office supplies to the strangest games. They also got into the watch, for example Google Maps, which can search and navigate in communication with your phone. The mobile phone does not necessarily have to be out of pocket when traveling, but the watch cannot do without it. Another great thing is that the Play Store automatically installs in Galaxy Watch4 applications that you have downloaded from it on your phone.
