From now on, MijnOverheid will only log in with the DigiD app or SMS

The online service platform of the Dutch government, MijnOverheid, is now only accessible by logging in with the DigiD app or SMS code.

MijnGovernment login changed

Since 30 January it is no longer possible to log in to MyGovernment with a username and password. From now on you will always need your mobile phone to log in. By using the DigiD app via a pin code or receiving a text message, personal data should be better protected.

By tightening up the login method, it should be more difficult for malicious users to access personal data of Dutch citizens. At the end of last year, Logius announced that there were still about 215,000 users who logged in to the platform with a username and password. All these users have been informed about the change by means of a letter.

A special page on the official DigiD website explains how to use the app or SMS code.

MijnOverheid is an online platform for Dutch citizens who can use the services if they are older than 14 years, have a citizen service number, are Dutch or live in the Netherlands, and have a DigiD account. The platform offers users access to digital mail from the government and personal data, such as the WOZ value of their home or the date of their last MOT.
