The Fraenk tariff from the provider Congstar is particularly simple. Everything is done via an app and prices and mobile data volume are very clear. Now the provider has decided to take a step that shouldn’t be so well received. Customers are still happy about the reduced LTE volume. How can that be?

Fraenk von Congstar: Data volume is being throttled

A throttled connection after using up the included volume is actually anything but a reason to be happy. With the Fraenk tariff of the provider Congstar, things look different. From now on, the transmission speed in the mobile Internet will be significantly reduced after the LTE volume has been used. However, this is good news for customers, because a package had to be booked directly beforehand if there was no longer any data volume available. Or to put it another way: A throttled Internet is better than no Internet at all.

With the throttling itself, however, Fraenk stepped on the brakes very hard. After the included volume has been used up, only 32 kilobits per second are possible for download and upload. This may just allow a message to be sent, but the rest of the mobile Internet is de facto not available. Websites will not be able to build up quickly at this speed, nor will songs be played via Spotify. Interestingly, in the announcement Fraenk speaks of the fact that the speed is only “a little slower”.

How does Fraenk work? The answer is here in the video:

Fraenk: Flexible tariff in the Telekom network

Usually, Fraenk provides up to 25 megabits per second for download. You can surf here via the Deutsche Telekom network. There is only one tariff available, with which customers receive a monthly data volume of 4 GB. A flat 10 euros are due per month. There is no contract term, the offer can be canceled on a monthly basis. Fraenk continues to insist that customers have a PayPal account. Other account types are not supported.
