The future is closer than you think. This flying taxi makes its first test flight of no less than 150 miles.
If you asked people 30 years ago what the world would be like in 2020, someone would have said that we would have flying taxis. We now live in 2021, but there is no question of a flying taxi yet. However, we are getting close. Thanks to Joby Aviation and their project, which has support from Toyota, among others.
The first test flight with their flying electric taxi is now a fact and that has been captured on video. This gives you an idea of what it’s like to book a flight with the air taxi in the future. No traffic jams and you can quickly get from A to B. Especially on long distances, such a thing is of course a godsend. Think of a flight from Maastricht to Groningen or something similar.
Joby Aviation is an American company. The fact that the flying taxi is fully electric immediately contributes to a sustainable future. The test flight started with a vertical takeoff and ended with a vertical landing. The 241 kilometer flight lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes. All this was completed with a prototype and is part of a series of tests by the company.
