Flexible smartwatch makes dreams come true

The old controversial question about the perfect smartwatch shape is slowly becoming boring and this design of an Apple Watch is already bringing new momentum to the discussion. If you want to have a say now, you have to take a closer look at the crazy idea.

Apple Watch with a foldable display: crazy smartwatch concept

Apple relies on angular screens, the competition from Samsung and Co. also likes to use round smartwatch displays – advantages and disadvantages combine both approaches. But the following display is not yet available on any smart watch. Although it is angular at first glance, as already known from the Apple Watch, it still has a little secret with a big effect.

If you look closely, you will see a hinge on the left. Wow … this Apple Watch can be opened in the middle and houses a flexible display underneath. Et voilà that Makers of “Liquid Silicone” present the first known smartwatch with a foldable display. Strictly speaking, this Apple Watch even has two screens: the normal display in everyday life, but when it comes down to it, you have a widescreen screen that is twice as large.

What does that bring? First and foremost, a lot more space for more screen elements. In the end, there are no limits to the imagination of the app developer. If you want, you can also use it to look at photos, films or larger map views for pedestrian navigation.

Trend towards flexibility: first smartphones, then smartwatches?

Just to make this clear, the so-called “Apple Watch Series X” is not a real Apple product, and there are currently no rumors for such a smartwatch. The Apple Watch Series 7 will definitely not look like that, but the idea is damn attractive and could actually be considered sooner or later depending on the state of the art.

Folding is currently more common on smartphones than on smartwatches:

There are already comparable trends with smartphones. The first foldable models from Samsung and Co. have long been available and Apple is also experimenting with articulated iPhones in the quiet room. So why shouldn’t the Apple Watch also “kink” in a few years? Until then we just have to dream a little longer.
