Fireteam Elite on PC plays a minimum of people -apkrig
Kotaku magazine pointed out that the Aliens: Fireteam Elite cooperative action is facing a serious shortage of players. It is based on unofficial but relevant statistics on Steam Charts. Even before the game was released and then again in our review, we pointed out that it was a mistake that the game would not offer cross-platform multiplayer, but only cross-gen within the same console family. We were afraid that the title might stand out if it didn’t succeed enough and fight for the attention of fans with a fragmented community. And unfortunately, that seems to be exactly what is happening.
Although we do not know the data from the consoles, we can take the PC version on Steam as a telling sample. When the game came out, it was played by an average of 10,000 people. The maximum was over 15,000 players at once. In the last 30 days, however, the average has dropped to a thousand players and the maximum was less than 4,000 players. In recent days, the occupancy rate has rarely climbed by over a thousand concurrent players. At the time of writing, 200 Aliens: Fireteam Elite fans were active on Steam.
The fact that there was a direct competition in the form of Back 4 Blood last week, which also bets on “endless” fun thanks to the card system, certainly did not contribute to the bad results. But even in the end, even in the case of intruders, it does not guarantee the same variability as the authors promised. The rest must be taken care of by regular content additions, and this is where they are in need. The last major update the game received in early September and brought a new class and weapons. since then, however, there have been only minor updates and fixes.
Although the data comes from the PC version and we do not know the statistics on the consoles, I have no illusion that the situation here would be dramatically different. Like salt, the game needs new characters, free weekends and, ideally, mainly new missions. Unfortunately, our fear that the game cannot be confiscated for a long time is still fulfilling. Already in our review, we blamed her, among other things, for the absence of cross-platform multiplayer, repetitive content and boring campaigns. On the other hand, even generous updates do not guarantee success, because intruders are very similar to Marvel’s Avengers on the PC.
