Mark Zuckerberg lashed out at Tim Cook and Apple, according to a leaked conversation from the Facebook CEO.

Things have not been going so well between Apple and Facebook for a while. A leaked conversation from Mark Zuckerberg reveals just how much the two tech companies are in a knot. In it, Zuckerberg would have said that Facebook must ‘hurt’ Apple. What’s going on between the two?

Zuckerberg wants to hurt Apple

The conflict between Apple and Facebook appears to be boiling as Zuckerberg sets a new goal for his team: to hurt the iPhone maker. This is evident from a leaked conversation, which insiders reveal to WallStreetJournal (via MacRumors).

The thunder between the two started during the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Facebook turned out to be passing on data from millions of users to the company mentioned. Cambridge Analytica then used the data to promote targeted political campaigns.

Apple CEO Tim Cook claimed in 2018 that his company would never end up there because they have a better view of privacy and data collection. That shot Zuckerberg in the wrong way. He fired some defenses back to Cook.

But in fact, the current fit between Cook and Zuckerberg is more about Apple’s policies and Facebook’s wishes than vague, hypothetical scenarios. The social medium does not agree with Apple’s policies in the App Store and the iOS ecosystem regarding data collection. Cook’s company would also hinder users’ free choice. In other words, users should be able to set Facebook and its iMessage as default apps. Of course, Facebook does not want to pay any commission to the App Store for in-app purchases.

In short, Apple and Facebook are engaged in a fierce battle that is slowly becoming public. There would even be lawsuits against each other. So this won’t be the last sneer between the two.
