Aldi doesn’t just offer entry-level tablets and laptops for the home office. The discounter is selling a top gaming PC with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in the coming week. But is the offer really worth it? GIGA does the technology check!

Medion Erazer Engineer X10: Aldi sells gaming PC for 1,500 euros

The discounter Aldi announced a few weeks ago that it would enter the gaming business. In fact, the market chain has been offering gaming laptops and PCs online and in its markets at regular intervals for some time. From February 25th, the portfolio will also include the Medion Erazer Engineer X10, a gaming PC with i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 for 1,499 euros.

But is it worth buying? Let’s take a look at the technical data:

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 (8 cores, 16 threads @ max. 4.8 GHz)
  • Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 RTX
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 RAM @ 2,933 MHz
  • Mass storage: 1 TB PCIe SSD
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 bit
  • WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Connections: 4x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A; 2x USB 2.0 type A; 1x microphone; 1x jack; 1x PS / 2; 1x LAN (RJ-45); 1x HDMI; 3x DisplayPort
  • Warranty: 3 years
  • Dimensions / weight: 20.7 x 38.1 x 39 cm / 12 kg
  • Free of charge: wired mouse

The Medion gaming PC actually makes a good impression on paper – the combination of the latest i7 processor and RTX 3070 is perfect for playing in WQHD or with reduced settings in 4K resolution. 32 GB of RAM are also a rarity at this price. WiFi and Bluetooth is also rarely found integrated into a gaming PC “off the shelf”. The 1 TB PCIe SSD offers plenty of storage space that can be expanded.

Can you actually play on a PC for 300 euros? We tried it:

What is missing, however, is information about the motherboard and the built-in power supply – something is often saved here. There will probably not be much room for upgrading. However, this is not even necessary with these technical data.

Fat gaming PC at Aldi: price and alternatives

Assembling a gaming PC yourself from the corresponding individual parts is out of the question due to the current hardware bottleneck, as the RTX 3070 is always out of stock. But also a look at ready-made pc dealers shows: The current Aldi range is impressive! At the moment there is hardly a PC on the market with similar performance data that costs only 1,499 euros.

In addition, Aldi gives a 3-year guarantee on the gaming computer, includes a mouse and offers WLAN and Bluetooth support in the PC – an “all-round carefree” package. So if you are looking for a high-end gaming PC, you can access Aldi from February 25, 2021.
