ABB, one of the leading charging infrastructure providers in the world, has presented its new Terra 360 charging station. It should be the most powerful on the market.

The new Terra 360 from the Swiss company ABB is a charging station that offers a maximum charging power of 360 kilowatts. This is supposed to be due to the modular structure of the station, which enables dynamic energy distribution.

Performance so far without a buyer

There is currently no vehicle that can actually be charged at this speed. The Audi E-Tron GT and its group sibling Porsche Taycan with 270 kilowatts currently have a maximum power consumption that is not too far removed from the capabilities of the Terra 360.

Of course, this is not due to ABB, which, according to its own statements, is already deliberately offering more performance than necessary. So the Terra 360 remains future-proof for the time being. Cars that can use the charging power would be able to refuel a range of 100 kilometers in three minutes – a full charge would take 15 minutes.

Terra 360 can charge four cars at the same time

On Thursday, ABB announced the market launch of the extremely fast charging station. The Terra 360 is designed so that up to four vehicles can draw power at the same time. There is plenty of space on the integrated 27-inch screen for information formats with images and videos.

ABB with almost 500,000 charging stations sold worldwide

ABB has already sold around half a million charging stations around the world. Operators like Ionity are also among the manufacturer’s customers. ABB sees the Terra 360 most closely with petrol station operators, but also wants to offer it to the municipal sector, shops and fleet operators. The company did not name a price.

In Europe, the first fast chargers should go into operation this year. They should be available in Asia, Latin America and the USA from 2022.
