Fantasy Life Online stops in Japan. The launch in Europe threatened? (trailer)
Fantasy Life Online, sort of mix between MMORPG, micro-management game and loot game, has not really been successful in Japan. 2 1/2 years after its launch, the Level-5 studio considered that it was time to stop the costs: the Fantasy Life Online servers will cease to function as of December 15th. This unexpected stop (which Level-5 justifies by an inability to reach a sufficient level of quality) also raises questions for the launch of the game outside of Japan. Editor Boltrend Games is so far in charge of launching the title in Europe and the rest of the world, but the complete lack of reaction after the announcement of the cessation of play in Japan is not a very encouraging sign. Level-5 will perhaps pay here for its slowness in locating its mobile titles, even though Square Enix, for example, has greatly accelerated the pace. An international release from the launch would perhaps have ensured the profitability of the title.
