Facebook removes Like button for pages, adds new features

Facebook has announced a notable change to Facebook pages. For example, the social network removes the Like button and the counter of the number of likes for a page disappears. On the other hand, there are some new functions.

Bye bye like button

In a post on Facebook you can read that Facebook has started rolling out a new page experience for users and administrators. It removes “liking” a page by shifting focus to “following” a page. The number of followers of a page gives a much better indicator of how many people actually like a page, according to Facebook.

What is new is that the pages will have a cleaner design, which should make it clearer to you as a visitor what the page in question is about. You should involve a new news feed in discussions that are conducted on and off the page. Pages can now also follow people and pages themselves. In the news feed you will then see the messages from users and other pages.

Facebook is also introducing a new question & answer section on pages that allows you to easily answer questions from users as a page. For page administrators, the tools are also streamlined and access rights can be specifically assigned to certain parts of the page.
