Facebook has described the black video as primate content

The Daily Mail recently published an ordinary video on the social network Facebook at first glance, which, however, caused a huge scandal for the company. While watching, users were asked if they should continue to see primate videos in the future. The Engadget portal informs about the topic.

The company’s spokeswoman apologized for the situation. She said in a statement that while Facebook has worked to improve its artificial intelligence, it is aware that it is still not perfect. He temporarily disabled the feature that caused the issue and will continue to work on improving face recognition technology.

Artificial intelligence has caused racial scandals in the past. Facebook is actively working to improve it

The fact that artificial intelligence is far from perfect has also been shown in the past. Last year, two blacks were illegally arrested in Detroit for incorrect face recognition. In 2015, photos of black people were named “gorillas” by Google Photos. For several years, it turned out that Google could not deal with this problem, so it only banned the use of the word “gorilla” when searching for and tagging photos.

Even in this case, Facebook solved the problem only by disabling the feature that caused it, but at the same time it is actively trying to improve its artificial intelligence. A few months ago, he shared a huge database with other companies working with artificial intelligence. It contained more than 40,000 videos with 3,000 people of different ethnic groups. When creating this database, Facebook even hired professionals who marked the age, gender and skin tone of the participants and then recorded them in different lighting conditions.
