ExeKiller mixes cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic western -apkrig

A little Blade Runner, a little canceled Prey 2, a little Mad Max and a little Rage. Such a mixture is reminiscent of the new retro futuristic title ExeKiller, which was introduced this week by the Paradark Studio team. This single action combining elements of cyberpunk and western will take us into a post-apocalyptic dystopian world, in which we will try to survive as a wage hunter. This is the debut of Polish developers, who entice us that there are no rules in their alternative reality and the only valid law is a loaded weapon.

We will not travel to the distant future. ExeKiller will take us to New York in 1998, as we fortunately do not remember.

The local world was ravaged 20 years ago by a colossal fire that resulted in only a third of humanity surviving. The remaining population inhabits only the last few places on Earth where life is possible. And as is often the case in cyberpunk stories, omnipotent corporations have taken power instead of incompetent governments. However, we will not travel to the distant future. ExeKiller will take us to New York in 1998, as we fortunately do not remember.

The authors say that they are at the same time big fans of westerns, post-apocalypse, dark sci-fi, cyberpunk and retro futurism. According to them, this mixture of genres was supposed to give birth to ExeKiller. This is not “just” the name of the game, but just the marking of wage hunters who win souls. In fact, more DUŠ.E. or SOUL This is nothing metaphysical in this case. These are biochips that contain vital information about its carrier and can even control it.

You can’t exist without these chips, and they’re made by one of the largest corporations in the world. We will hunt outlaws, kill them, or let them escape. The choice is up to us, the studio promises. But we have to choose carefully, because every decision will have consequences and influence the further direction of the story.

Although the local world is not in the best shape, there will also be all sorts of augmentations and tweaks that will allow you to outsmart your enemies. We can get around our opponents, use the environment to our advantage or get out of an unpleasant mess with the help of our own eloquence. Although at first glance the environment seems a bit monotonous, the authors promise colorful and varied scenery, which we will travel with our own hovercraft. However, gangs of bandits can also lurk in the desert, and we are also troubled by the vagaries of the weather, such as radioactive and solar storms.

Although the graphics do not deny cheaper roots and rougher animations reveal that this is not an AAA production, the successful styling of ExeKiller catches up and arouses legitimate curiosity.

Developers are tempted that everyone can play ExeKiller to their liking. Our events will not only affect the story, but allegedly every situation, thanks to which the title should have great potential for replayability. Well, we will see. The local world is supposed to be beautiful and deadly at the same time, and we will be far from moving only in cities. The team also promises an interesting choice of weapons or alternating day and night influencing the course of events.

At first glance, the game attracts with its distinctive aesthetics. Although the graphics do not deny cheaper roots and rougher animations reveal that this is not an AAA production, the successful styling of ExeKiller catches up and arouses legitimate curiosity. The problem with similar Polish titles is rather that they often go a long way from the performance to the final product, and in the end there is not always what the authors promise at the beginning. Just look at the hosts of games from PlayWay. But I definitely don’t want to paint the devil on the wall or throw all similar games into one bag. Speaking of which, Paradark Studio is an independent team based in Krakow.

So far, ExeKiller is only aimed at the PC and its authors promise that it will be released when it is ready…
