Google has officially announced the Pixel 5a. The phone is the successor to the Pixel 4a 5G and comes to the United States and Japan for a suggested retail price of $ 449.

Google Pixel 5a with 5G
Google’s a-series represents a series of more accessible Pixel phones in the mid-range. In 2019, at the Google I/O event, Google launched the first phones in this series, the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL. Last year, the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G were added. The Pixel 4a 5G was announced along with the Pixel 5 and today the Pixel 5a sees the light of day.
Cheaper and better than the Pixel 4a 5G
The Pixel 5a succeeds last year’s Pixel 4a 5G with an IP certificate and a larger battery for $50 less. This new Pixel phone has a 6.34-inch FHD+ OLED with a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, an IP67 certification, and 5G support thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor.
There are a total of three cameras on the phone. A 12.2 MP dual-pixel main camera with OIS (f/1.7), 16 MP ultra-wide angle camera (f/2.2) and an 8 MP selfie camera. That is equal to the camera setup of the Pixel 5. Furthermore, Google gives the Pixel 5a at least three years of version updates and security updates. The yet to be announced Google Pixel 6 series would receive software updates for five years.

Four new cases
Mostly Black is the colorway that leans more towards dark green and is assisted by an olive green power button. In addition, Google is introducing new cases to protect the Pixel 5a. They come in the colors Black Moss, Maybe Moon, Likely Lime and Partially Pink and are sustainable because of the use of recycled materials.
Google Pixel 5a 5G Pricing and Availability
The Google Pixel 5a will cost $449 and will hit stores in the United States and Japan on August 26. Unfortunately, Google’s Pixel phones are still not officially available in the Netherlands and Belgium. They are also not sold in Germany or the United Kingdom for the time being. We will therefore have to move to the gray channel or America or Japan for these phones.
