Due to chip shortage, the iPhone will become more expensive again
Don’t worry: this increase has not yet had its full impact on the iPhone 13. But the prognosis is already that an iPhone will become a lot more expensive again.
It’s what you often hear when criticizing Apple: they sell expensive devices. That’s a fact: completely ‘Pro’ versions can sometimes cost quite a fortune. There has also been an upward trend for years. You could bet that the iPhone would be more expensive new than last year when it was new. However, there are currently two things going on: Apple introduced cheaper iPhones and prices stayed more or less the same with a new release. That sounds like a good development.
iPhone is getting more expensive
Unfortunately, it’s going that way again. According to forecasts, the iPhone in general will become more expensive again. The ogre is the well-known chip shortage. Scarcity makes the chips more expensive and so Apple has to make more money for a comparable profit margin. Prices seem to be going up again.
high range
The greatest profit can also be made from high-end devices. Mid-range and budget-class phones are not affordable enough to focus much on that. We can’t imagine that basic models like the iPhone 12 will be shown the door, but a successor to the iPhone SE would be difficult with this logic.
Specific
What it actually means is not yet known. In any case, it is known that the increase in the price of the iPhone for the upcoming iPhone 13 will mean nothing. Other companies may also be affected by this. We’ll just have to wait and see. (via Nikkei Asia)
