Does Instagram turn away from its original idea of photo sharing?
Quite interesting shifts are recorded by the network, which was created and targeted at photography. Today, however, it looks as if she wants more video and entertainment than the creative art from its beginnings.
Is the photo boring?
In the beginning, when Instagram appeared in 2010, his job was to target and entice creative artists who promoted their art photography rights through this social network. They gained not only admirers and customers, but also the popularity of Instagram. But now it looks like Instagram is abandoning its original idea and throwing itself into a duel with YouTub and TikTok, where short videos rule and it is crucial to have fun, the idea of art recedes into the background. Quite figuratively, this is declared by one of the many photographers in his shots and their gradually decreasing images.
Photographer and sunrise hunter Sam Binding has done several experiments as he gradually reduces interest in his photographs on Instagram. As a result, on Instagram with 11,000 followers, the photo was viewed approximately 5,500 times. However, when he uploaded an identical image to Twitter with 333 followers, the view was 5,600. And this is how many accounts of photographers and creatives on Instagram develop.
The trend towards approaching video and entertainment is described quite clearly by the change in the position of the boss and the purchase by Facebook. In 2012, when Instagram bought Facebook, it didn’t look like such a drastic change, because Kevin Systrom remained the highest. But since 2018, when he was replaced by Adam Mosseri, his statements have clearly deviated from the trend of maintaining Instagram for photography.
Among other things, he made it clear that “The main reason people say they use Instagram is to have fun. “
And then he added: “I want to start by saying that we are no longer a photo-sharing application.”
The year 2022 is estimated for a radical rebirth of the Instagram application, which will probably be full of dance videos, celebrities promoting goods and services and shopping videos. Artists and creative creators will disappear from it. However, it may happen that even Instagram does not estimate its path, as happened to Facebook, which created Lasso, a clone of the famous original TikTok and terminated its funding after two years, as it has reached only 80,000 active users. Thus, building on identical models of success for another application may not always turn out positively.
So we will see in which direction the famous Instagram will go. Facebook wants him on the wave of interest, and as long as it’s fun videos and short stories for fun or advertising from famous faces, the trend won’t change. This is the overall popularity and growth of the application from a business perspective. And there may not be room for those who started on the network ten years ago and actually built its name and millions of users.
