Do you want to visit the Great Wall of China? Google will take you on a virtual tour

Through the Google Arts & Culture Project, Google will allow users to visit the Great Wall of China from the comfort of their own homes. The novelty includes an exclusive 360-degree virtual tour of one of the best-preserved sections of the Wall, along with 35 stories about the architectural details of the monument. The TechCrunch portal informed about the news.

The history of the monument awaits you in the virtual tour

More than 10 million people visit the monument every year, and in this way Google wants to bring the Great Wall of China closer to those who will never actually see it. The company worked on the project with renowned Great Wall of China expert Dong Yaohui and curators from Gubei Water Town.

The virtual tour will give users the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Wall and visit parts of it that might otherwise be difficult to access. They can also learn more about its history or take a closer look at hidden inscriptions, stamps and patterns carved on the brick walls. The news also aims to provide users with more information on how the Great Wall of China is preserved for future generations.

The Virtual Great Wall of China can be visited on its official website or via the Google Arts & Culture mobile app.

The Google Arts & Culture Project also offers other virtual tours

Google has launched a number of 360-degree virtual tours over the past few years. In 2016, it gave users the opportunity to explore U.S. national parks. In addition to the many other shows he gradually introduced in the following years, he experimented with the technology in other ways. In 2017, for example, he launched a virtual art gallery and in 2018 released a tool that allowed students to create their own tours.
