The film Almost Perfect Secrets is a German remake of the Italian original Absolute Foreigners, which is a little better for us. The remake is less serious and although the performances are not bad, the original is more believable. So what is the film about? Friends with their halves are invited to dinner with another couple. It’s supposed to be another quiet evening, and although some don’t have much love, they have enough self-reflection to keep their opinions out loud.

At dinner, the idea is that everyone puts their phones on the table and whatever comes, whether it’s a business call or an SMS, they have to read aloud. Although everything starts relatively calmly and humorously, it gradually begins to tighten. How much must we not know about ourselves in order to remain friends, husbands, parents or even lovers? Even those we know well can be foreigners in some respects.
