Do you also use wipes for anything and everything? Then you really want to read this

mothers and wipes; the best duo since knife and fork. Do you also use the wipes for anything and everything? Apparently that’s not such a good idea.

Where mothers and their offspring go, the packs of wipes go. Personally, I use them for everything. Dirty buttocks, dirty face, sticky hands, for a moment about the changing table or the high chair. And who knows, I might even take the kitchen table with me.

Toxic substances

It turns out that I am not the only one, because research by Waarzitwatin shows that 80 percent of parents also use these wipes for other things than just brushing their buttocks. According to toxicologist Hester Hendriks, we had better not do that and only use them for the buttocks.

“In addition to aloe vera, viscose and water, among other things, baby wipes often also contain fragrances such as geraniol or limonene. Some babies, children and adults may have an allergy to these fragrances,” she explains. “When using wipes, it is good to be aware that, in terms of composition, wipes are not produced for contact with the mucous membranes in the mouth. Babies have a lot of hand-to-mouth contact, so it is better not to use the wipes as a squeegee or to clean hands. This way you prevent your child from being exposed to chemicals unnecessarily.”

No replacement for the cleaning wipes either

She also advises against using the wipes for cleaning, for example, the changing mat, changing table, floor, toys and high chair. “Banner wipes leave a greasy film in which bacteria can grow. Because of the many hand-mouth contact, small children can also ingest these bacteria.”

Oh, oops. And I thought I killed three birds with one stone. From now on, just get a pack of face polishers and just a clean dishcloth over the chair.
