With the arrival of Android 12, Google has again given the necessary attention to widgets. Several Google services got a brand new widget and the existing widgets got a lick of paint and new functions.

Google is now working behind the scenes on a widget for Digital Wellbeing, which 9To5Google discovered in the code of that app. The widget is called “Your Screen Time” and it has not yet been rolled out to users. However, it could be activated and we see the first screenshots.

Digital Wellbeing aims to help users to use their telephone responsibly. Below it is possible to set limits for using the latest beta version of the app. The widget under development is much simpler and shows total screen time on a daily basis. When you set a larger size on the home screen, you also get to see the time you’ve spent in your three most used apps.

The Digital Wellbeing widget is made according to Google’s Material You design and it supports dynamic colors. That is, the colors of the widget on phones with Android 12 depend on the wallpaper you are using. It is not yet known exactly when Google will roll out ‘Your screen time’ to phones. That will probably happen in the coming weeks with a next beta version of the app.
