Developers will also be able to use Denuvo on PS5 -apkrig

The company Irdeto, which is behind the DRM protection of Denuvo, published at first glance a relatively explosive report. The system, which is not very popular among gamers, has recently become part of the officially supported middleware tools for game development on the PlayStation 5, but it is essential to define that Denuvo does not refer to copy protection in this case, as is the case with many PC games. Irdeto offered console developers a identically named anti-cheat system and made it available to all PS5 Tools and Middleware owners. Perhaps as some reassurance, Irdeto states in a press release that Denuva’s anti-cheat already protects over 1,000 games across all platforms – including consoles – and therefore support for PS5 games should be a formality.

“Denuvo is at the forefront of game protection with more than 2 billion unique installations of individual titles. By joining PS5 Tools and Middleware, Denuvo is strengthening its commitment to dominating and innovating game security, ”the press release said. In addition, protection in this case means not only setting fair conditions for all players in multiplayer, but also a guarantee that developers or publishers will not lose their investments and their business will be free of cases and excesses that are inextricably linked to cheaters. “In the Global Gaming Survey, 77 percent of respondents cited cheating as a reason for losing interest in a particular game, creating a huge risk associated with monetizing such titles,” adds Irdeto. However, it should be pointed out that the cited survey was carried out by the company itself, although on the other hand it relies on the data of less than 9,500 players.

The toolkit should protect against the usual practices of cheaters, such as engaging aim boots, trigger boots, wall hacks, cam hacks and many others.

As for the anti-cheat system itself, even with the help of machine learning, it should monitor not only the mentioned multiplayer, but also the progress in offline modes. Players should then not know that the system is running in the background, when Irdeto states in a report that Denuvo has no effect on the performance of the games themselves and does not significantly affect the workflow of developers. In particular, the toolkit should protect against the usual practices of cheaters, such as engaging aim bots, trigger bots, wall hacks, cam hacks, and more, although Irdeto does not explain where cheating of this kind on consoles comes from. Yes, there are devices like the Cronus Max that can modify the behavior of a driver attached to a console, but this is an undetectable issue at the hardware level that Denuvo – and probably no other anti-cheating system – can handle. Advanced software modification is then not possible by nature due to the nature of the matter, although of course there are exceptions.

Either way, Denuvo, according to Irdeto founder Reinhard Bluskovitsch, has gone toward honest gamers and promises developers and publishers a lasting interest in their games and fears of declining earnings due to cheating.
