Deactivate Instagram account – this is how it works

If you want to take a break from the photo and video community, you don’t have to go straight to the drastic solution and delete your entire Instagram profile. If you want to return later, you can simply deactivate your Instagram account. We explain how it works here on GIGA.

As has been possible for a long time with the social network Facebook (to which Instagram has been part since 2012), you don’t have to delete your account if you want to get some distance from the constantly connected life. Instead, you can deactivate the Instagram account for an indefinite period of time.

The advantage here is that you keep your pictures, comments, “likes” as well as your subscriptions and everything else if you want to reactivate the account in the future.

Deactivate Instagram account

You can use your Instagram account deactivate and reactivate at any time – So you don’t have to set a fixed period of time or you can only return after a certain time. It should be noted that your Deactivate account only once a week can! If you log in again in the same week in which you deactivated the account, you will not be able to deactivate your profile until the next week.

Deactivating the account works only via the website in the browser (on PC, smartphone or tablet) – in the Instagram app there are no options to deactivate the account.
