No time right now?

Two current investigations by the EU Commission against Google could lead to official investigations – possibly with new record fines.

The EU Commission is currently working on Google’s advertising business and data processing. The magazine Politico was able to view two questionnaires that the authority sent to the group. In the US, too, there are proceedings against Google on both issues.

According to Politico, the two European investigations are currently confidential. However, two EU officials said it was possible that the trials could lead to public charges in the future.

Focus on data and displays

“The Commission has potential concerns about the way in which Google collects, collects, accesses, processes, uses or monetizes data,” says one of the documents.

The other study looks at the entire value chain in the ad tech area, including Google’s relationships with advertisers, publishers, intermediaries and competitors. According to insiders, it is, among other things, about Google’s plans to no longer allow third-party cookies in the Chrome browser.

Several billion fines in the last few years

According to Politico, Google has to answer the questionnaires by January 22nd. In recent years, the EU Commission has imposed new record fines on Google several times.

The group had to pay 1.49 billion euros because of illegal business practices in online advertising, 2.42 billion because of the preference for its own shopping service and 4.43 billion because of its business model in relation to Android.
