Dark mode spotted for desktop search

Google is currently testing a new function in the USA that is sure to find some fans in this country too. Depending on the settings of the operating system, a night mode is sometimes displayed on the desktop in Google’s desktop search.

For some Google users in the USA, the search results are currently much darker than before. According to several reports, Google is currently testing a night mode in which all white areas are bathed in a dark gray. The writing, in turn, appears in a light color. Google has now confirmed that such a test is being carried out.

Google’s night mode on the desktop should be based entirely on the corresponding settings in the respective operating system, such as The Verge reported. If macOS or Windows 10 is already set to dark, then the search results will also appear in dark mode. It is therefore not a setting on Google.

As early as January 2021, some users in the USA noticed the dark mode on Google. Now the test has apparently been expanded. It has not yet been revealed when all users will be able to enjoy dark mode.

Meanwhile, Google isn’t the only company taking care of a night mode. Microsoft recently announced that the dark mode of word processing Word will in future cover the entire document. Before, only buttons and dialogs were seen in a dark gray. Twitter has also revised its night mode and made it even darker than before.
