DALL-E: graphics generation AI goes into beta and will be used by nearly a million users
SLABthe graphics-generating AI that manages to create stunning images from a simple textual description, has just gone into beta. Open AI announced the good news and clarified in the process that this major advance in development will allow AI to reach a million additional users. This number of users corresponds to almost all of the people who have registered on the waiting list to be able to play with DALL-E.
Beta testers will also receive 50 credits (200 images to generate) for the first month of registration, then 15 credits (60 images) per month. It will also be possible to buy 115 credits (460 images) for 15 dollars. Note that the recovered images can be used in the context of commercial exploitation, a strong point of the contract between OpenAI and the beta testers.
OpenAI further clarifies that many contentious points of DALL-E have been fixed. The AI does not process images of political figures, filters will automatically remove violent, racist or explicit images (therefore it will not be possible to request “Scarlett Johansson nude and riding a giant pink pelican”) and the results will better reflect the diversity of the human population. Will image-generating AIs finally come out of the woodwork and become more democratic?
