Corona did that with the Apple tablet

After a meteoric rise after its market launch in 2010, the iPad had almost become a problem child in recent years. Apple countered this with professional hardware, more models and sometimes expensive accessories. At the end of 2020 there was a big surprise that can hardly surprise anyone.

Apple’s latest quarterly figures confirm what became apparent last year: Many users had to forego leisure activities and trips, for which the latest gadgets are often bought. But the tech equipment at home became much more important. And so it is hardly surprising that Apple delivered another record quarter in the Christmas business: the company made 111.4 billion US dollars in sales in the period from October to December 2020 – with a profit of 28.8 billion.

The not-so-secret star of the numbers: the iPad. That delivered according to the Apple expert and former Macworld editor-in-chief Jason Snell its biggest jump in sales in the Christmas quarter for six years: Compared to the previous year, Apple made 41 percent more sales with the tablet. A total of around 8.4 billion.

Amazing: The figures for the third and fourth quarters of 2020 – the time in summer – also show a clear trend. Probably not least due to numerous large orders in the school sector, which did not exist in 2019.

Apple’s iPad Air is also aimed at price-conscious users with modern technology:

iPhone celebrates top quarter

Apple has not yet made more sales than in the previous quarter with the iPhone: a total of around 65.6 billion. That is 17 percent more than in the previous year. Unlike the iPad, iPhone sales remained at a normal level over the summer, i.e. before the launch of the iPhone 12, and were down on the previous year, especially in the period from July to September. The corona pandemic could also have made itself felt here.
