Clap for Samsung: Europeans love Xiaomi phones
Xiaomi actually did it: The Chinese cell phone manufacturer dethroned Samsung in Europe and took first place. One number particularly illustrates the success.
Worldwide, Xiaomi has already overtaken Apple and grabbed the silver medal in the ranking of the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturers. Things are going even better for the electronics company, which is used to success, even in Europe.
Xiaomi is the new number 1 in Europe
In the European market, Xiaomi was able to overtake Samsung in the second quarter of 2021, as new analyzes by the market researchers from Strategy Analytics show (source: Strategy Analytics via GSMarena). Between the months of April and June, Xiaomi came across one Market share of 25.3 percent – number 1 in Europe. At Samsung, however, it was only enough for a 24 percent market share.
The storm to the top is even more impressive when you look at the growth numbers of Xiaomi and Samsung in comparison. While Xiaomi was able to record a gigantic increase of 67.1 percent, Samsung is down by 7 percent. Although the two manufacturers are only separated by 700,000 units sold in the absolute numbers, a narrow victory is also a victory. In short: at least currently Europeans prefer to use a Xiaomi cell phone than to a Samsung smartphone.
When it comes to cheap smartphones, Xiaomi is way ahead, like us in this one Video show:
Can Samsung strike back?
To what extent Samsung can recapture the crown in the third and fourth quarters of the year remains to be seen. On August 11th, the South Koreans will introduce new smartphones, but these are folding phones. Even if the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is supposed to be cheaper than its predecessor – the future-oriented devices are at least not yet real box office hits.
On the other hand, should Xiaomi the Keep flooding the market with smartphones, which are more at home in the inexpensive entry-level and middle class. So the fight for the top remains exciting.
