Chinese Tencent bought a stake in the Bohemia Interactive studio -apkrig

Speculations have been confirmed. Although more than half a year has passed since the very first. The largest Czech studio Bohemia Interactive has announced that the Chinese giant Tencent has acquired a minority stake in the company. The team assured that it will continue to operate independently and under the leadership of the current management. Most of the Bohemia Interactive studio remains in Czech hands.

“With this step, we are joining the world’s top gaming studios, in which Tencent operates as a strategic investor.”

Both companies have agreed not to disclose details of the deal. The head of the company, Marek Španěl, praises the new partnership. “We are pleased to deepen our relationship with Tencent, one of the world’s leading online and gaming companies,” he said. “We look forward to working on our current and future projects with the support of a strong partner who has known us for many years and understands our unique approach to online game development,” believes Marek Španěl.

At the same time, he pointed out that Tencent had previously joined other large and successful gaming companies around the world. “With this step, we join the world’s top gaming studios, in which Tencent operates as a strategic investor. These include Epic Games, Paradox Interactive, KLEI entertainment and many others, ”added the Spaniard.

It has been speculated that even a minority stake could pay Chinese company more money than the entire Warhorse and Beat Games studios had previously sold.

Last June, based on an article by The Information server, it was speculated that the Chinese Tencent was to acquire up to an 80 percent share for 260 million dollars (6.2 billion crowns), and thus become the majority owner of the largest Czech gaming studio. The company later denied the reports, saying they were not true.

Then there was speculation about Tencent’s investment a few days ago. In view of the company’s further growth, it was assumed that even for a minority stake, the Chinese company could pay more money than the entire Warhorse and Beat Games studios had previously sold. However, it must be emphasized once again that these were only estimates and that the actual amount of the share and its price are known only to the parties involved.
