Check out the canceled horror film Tomb Raider: Ascension -apkrig

When, after five years of silence, the first installment of the Tomb Raider reboot came out in 2013, players were left to watch the work of Crystal Dynamics developers with their mouths open. Gone was the fearless Lara Croft, who embarked on dangerous adventures in which archeology and the exploration of forgotten civilizations played a secondary role. The new version of the main heroine, at least in the game from 2013, was young, inexperienced and often quite scared, which brought with it a lot of very drastic moments and quite straightforward ways of death. The Crystal Dynamics approach was described as innovative and very bold, for which the game received very high ratings and started a new trilogy in style. In reality, however, the new adaptation of the classic action series could have been even more innovative, and as a result we could see survival horror, in which a terrifying encounter with demons accompanied by a little Japanese girl Izumi would play a prim instead of action. It was this game that was supposed to be Tomb Raider Ascension, which in recent years has been talked about as a canceled project that eventually gave way to a more traditional concept. Footage from this game and some basic information could be obtained by players in recent years, but as part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider brand, Square Enix representatives spoke openly about the entire project and shared one interesting video after another.

The first arrived a week ago, and according to a short description, it contains shots of concepts that Square Enix and developers thought about when deciding on the future direction of the brand. This was supposed to happen before the release of Tomb Raider: Underworld from 2008, the last big work, which was followed by a reboot from 2013. Square Enix confirms the previous information that no matter what, the new part of the series was supposed to tell a story from the very beginning and Try some new gameplay elements, including melee combat, horseback riding, and collaboration with some other character. This information goes hand in hand with what was said in the introduction and what fans have known about Ascension for several years. The little girl Izumi was supposed to be Lara’s guide to a mysterious island inhabited by monsters and demons. In addition, Izumi was supposed to be a partially playable character and help solve spatial puzzles by getting to places where Lara could not get due to her height. It was also supposed to have magical abilities, to manipulate water and communicate with the island, which was partly included in the final form of the game from 2013. Demons played a significant role there as well, as well as magic island and it is therefore possible to observe quite accurately the genesis of the video game project, which again and again confirms how much the organizational process really is.

The second official video is more artistically grateful and provides an insight into the concept of the game world and individual characters, including the main heroine. The pictures were taken at the moment when the concept of survival game was decided, which takes place on a deserted island, and Crystal Dynamics, according to available information, flirted with the idea of ​​processing some horror segments. After all, the published works correspond to this, from which in some places the terrifying atmosphere clearly stands out. These are the moments when a bright white person walks at the end of a darkened cave, or when the main heroine is exposed to a collision with a strange monster in the dark. The pictures also show quite detailed detail of the design of the girl Izumi, and there is also a monkey friend, who was to replace Izumi in another concept, allegedly to lighten the story and focus all attention on Lara.

The third video from October 18 finally provides a look at the prototype of the game as it was created under the hands of developers from Crystal Dynamics. Even more obvious is the horror atmosphere, but on the prototype you can already see parts that were subsequently used for the needs of the final form of the reboot. The very beginning, when Lara makes her way through the burning torches of narrow caves, refers to one of the introductory passages in the game Tomb Raider from 2013, including wading with water and resting her hand on the wall of the cave above her head. There is also the ignition of monsters, or work with ice axes, which have become largely a hallmark new Lary. A novelty, however, is the controllable horseback riding, which did not make it to the final version of the game and years ago was one of the most discussed features of the game when watching a leaked video from one of the Crystal Dynamics graphics. In the video from Square Enix, it can be seen in the combat section that the developers have been thinking about involvement for some time classic Lara’s movements, such as various throws and handstands, did not occur to such an extent in the end, and the beginning of the new trilogy emphasized the realism of the overall design and the naturalistic rendering of unpleasant scenes.

So far, the latest video released on the official Tomb Raider channel deals with the very subtitle Ascension – Rise – and an explanation of why Lara is no longer an action heroine of the 90s capable of a lot of acrobatic creations. “Do you think you know me, that you’ve seen me before? A rich girl with a pretty face, glistening weapons and acrobatic movements. I think you mistaken me for someone, “says Lara in the video, and in the background there are various possible forms of game boxes. Lara then adds that she is not flawless, let alone bulletproof, that, unlike previous adventures, she can run into serious problems and start bleeding. These are the aspects that eventually came into play and definitely helped to increase interest in the game and stir up the discussion. We can’t end up with anything other than Lara’s bust, and we guess that the main heroine would definitely forgive us for this suffix. The size of her baits was a very sensitive topic at the start of the new trilogy, and it is clear from the newly published concepts that many things they changed towards reality and the physical constitution of a girl or woman who is more of a sports-based action heroine than a girl who is not in any great danger. And I personally commend this departure from Lara Croft’s earlier conception.
